I Castelli Animati

(Madžarska), Ton Crone (Nizozemska), John Dilworth (ZDA), Paul Driessen (Nizozemska), David Fine (Velika Britanija), Oscar Grillo (Velika Britanija), Kenji Kawai (Japonska), Jerzy Kucia (Poljska), Peter Lord (Velika Britanija) John Lycette (Avstralija), Jimmy Murakami (Velika Britanija), Marv Newland (Kanada), Julian Nott (Velika Britanija), Vincent Patar (Belgija), Jimmy Picker (ZDA), Jan Pinkava (ZDA), Bretislav Pojar (Češka), Joanna Quinn (Velika Britanija), Normand Roger (Kanada), Alison Snowden (Velika Britanija), Rin Taro (Japonska), Pal Toth (Madžarska), Wendy Tilby (Kanada), Sue Young (Velika Britanija).

Program, ki bo predstavil sodobni italijanski animirani film, je sestavil Luca Raffaelli, umetniški vodja festivala I Casteli Animati:

I Castelli Animati

I Castelli Animati International animated film Festival started in 1996 and, over the short period of seven editions, has become the most important and complete event of its kind in Italy. In February 2000 I Castelli Animati was appointed by the European Union to represent Italy, thus becoming one of the seven European Festivals which constitute the referring ground for Cartoon d'Or, the U.E. co-organised event which awards the Oscar to the best European animated film and evaluates programs for new productions. Furthermore I Castelli Animati is an official member of European Film Festivals Coordination whose organisation embraces all main Film Festivals.

I Castelli Animati event stands out because of its special formula which gathers all animation forms into one, great event by alternating TV series, feature films, CD-Rom, advertising spots, International and Italian short films competitions, previews, interviews, round tables, authors and players, live performances of the Festival guests. Every year dozens of films from all over the world take part in the International Competition. The following prizes are awarded: Grand Prize, Special Jury Prize, Prize for the best first film, Prize for the best European film, Prize for the best non-narrative film, "Fabrizio Bellocchio" Prize for the best social content.

In its different editions some of the most important international animation authors have taken part in the Festival such as: Bruno Bozzetto (Italy), Konstantin Bronzit (Russia), Ferenc Cak? (Hungary), Ton Crone (The Netherlands), John Dilworth (USA), Paul Driessen (The Netherlands), David Fine (United Kingdom), Oscar Grillo (United Kingdom), Kenji Kawai (Japan), Jerzy Kucia (Poland), Peter Lord (United Kingdom) John Lycette (Australia), Jimmy Murakami (United Kingdom), Marv Newland (Canada), Julian Nott (United Kingdom), Vincent Patar (Belgium), Jimmy Picker (USA), Jan Pinkava (USA), Bretislav Pojar (Czech Republic), Joanna Quinn (United Kingdom), Normand Roger (Canada), Alison Snowden (United Kingdom), Rin Taro (Japan), Pal Toth (Hungary), Wendy Tilby (Canada), Sue Young (United Kingdom). As a mark of prestige and credibility gained by our Festival, we would like to mention some of the great productions that we presented in Italian preview during the last editions: The way to Eldorado, Chicken Run, Pokemon 2, Cats & Dogs. A very important event was the world preview of Shadow Cycle, produced and arranged by Paul McCartney who, after refusing to present his film to Venice Festival wanted to present it personally to the festival.

The protagonist of the ninth edition of I Castelli Animati was P.O.P. (which stands for Pace of Peace) the Supercamel that magically transforms scenarios of war and violence into real situations of peace. Created and written by 8 Israeli students and 8 Palestinian students, aged between 16 and 18, from Raanana (Israel) and Qalqilia (Palestinian Authority), Pace of Peace won the award for "Cinema and the Culture of Dialogue" at the latest Venice Film Festival. Based on an idea of journalist Roberto Davide Papini and of Attilio Valenti, teacher of History and Techniques of Animated Film, realised by 12 Italian animation studios and produced by I Castelli Animati and the Office for Peace in Jerusalem of the City of Rome, Pace of Peace boasts the artistic supervision of two important names in world animation: Giulio Gianini and Emanuele Luzzati.

The following programme, which is a showcase of contemporary animated films by Italian authors, was compilled by Luca Raffaelli, artistic director of I Casteli Animati International animated film Festival:
